  1. Mar 13, 2018  I have been trying for months to adjust my gliderol garage door. I have two – one is fine, the other isn't. I have tried all the recommended things and I am running out of ideas. I am very practical but this has me stumped. What happens is that when the door rolls up it is crooked – one side reaches the stop the other side is about 40 mm short.
  2. Electric garage doors are a great convenience -- until, of course, they break. The bad news: a dozen things.

Gliderol Garage Doors has been operating in the UK for over 30 years. Gliderol Garage Doors manufactures three types of garage door - a continuous steel curtain roller garage door, an insulated roller garage door and a sectional garage door complete with automatic operators for each door type. Our products are suited to both residential and commercial applications, ranging from residential home garages, to airport hangar doors, to self-storage facilities. All our operations are fully CE compliant and operate within audited ISO 9001 quality systems. Our products are backed by comprehensive warranties and we are the UK's market leading Roller Garage Door manufacturer.

This very simple highly effective design of continuous curtain roller garage door was first patented by Gliderol Australia over 50 years ago. The plastisol coated corrugated steel curtain wraps around a roller drum, which is mounted behind the lintel inside the garage.

Should I insulate my garage door? Insulate, of course is the common answer, but is it the smart answer in all instances?

Gliderol Garage Doors' market leading continuous curtain steel roller garage door is a great argument to suggest an alternative way. The majority of garages are unheated and fitting an insulated door makes no difference to that fact! With no energy to be saved, a single skin door provides the best option. It still brings vertical travel for park right-up-convenience, inside and out - perfect for short driveways and fits behind the reveal giving extra drive through width - ideal for today's wider vehicle and narrow garages. In fact, a single skin solution brings everything - effective weather closure, robust security, durability, ease of automation - except the price premium of one expensive element - insulation!

I have two large Gliderol GRD garage doors, and they are a headache. First the remotes went bad and Gliderol wanted $120 to replace each one.

I ended up buying a programmable remote from eBay for $10 and it worked perfectly, so this tells you what kind of eye-watering markups Gliderol foists onto its customers. Buyer beware, you /will/ be gouged.Secondly, the doors now malfunction and its because there are PLASTIC parts where there should be METAL. The plastic cog frame inside the roller is broken in numerous places and so the doors have to b.

Read more e lifted up and down manually now. It will be a very expensive repair to make these doors work again, all because they cheaped out on materials and are badly designed.I'm now investigating replacing the doors with something made to last and engineered properly. My very old remote on my very old Gliderol garage door failed. Gliderol knew the remote (they described it to me) and told me neither an original nor aftermarket remote was available.

They gave me the contact details for one of their contractors who they said could fit a new receiver board with new remotes. I made contact with the contractor who said he could supply 2 remotes and code them for $240 (even though I only needed one). He was to send me a quote by email but I never heard from him again even though I left him several reminder message. Perhaps he died. Gliderol then gave me the contact details for 2 more of their contractors (but no explanation about the first guy).

One wanted $360 for a new board and remotes, and the other wanted to sell me a new motor, board and remotes for $650. All this seemed a bit over the top so I went to the 'Heel and Sole' shoe repair man at the The Gap Village shopping center who does key cutting and remote replacements etc. He researched it in a few minutes, found an aftermarket supplier, got it in the next day, coded it. It cost me $110. Works fine with my existing board and motor. We moved into a home fitted with a Gliderol garage door by the builder and it has been a problem since day one. The door has never worked properly, it was installed with the motor too low, there were gaps in the seals, so leaves and dirt blew under the door and the noise, it sounded like the roller coaster at Luna Park.

We had Gliderol out to repair it numerous times and they did such a bad job, it ended up damaging the door, as it was adjusted incorrectly, and the chain chewed a hole through the top of the door. Then to add insult to injury. Read more, we found out that if the motor fails we would have to replace the whole driveshaft, as they have discontinued the motor. We decided to cut our losses and sent it to the scrap yard.

We now have a beautiful BND door and don’t wake up the neighbours every time hubby goes to work in the early hours of the morning. If your builder is using these doors, run! We bought a brand new Gliderol 6m high by 5.5m wide direct from Gliderol and had them install it in a new factory.Within 12 months the motor (the size of a cars windscreen wiper motor) had failed and the door was spinning.

Gliderol sent a service guy out who just jammed a heap of 40mm tex screws into the plastic barrel. For the next year every time we manually pulled the door up metal from the door would drop out, the door tore itself to pieces. Gliderol would not come back out to inspect, since getting up on the ladder and seeing how these doors are made, I can assure you they are cheap junk. An Industrial Roller Door should last 20 years, this door lasted 3 and we had to rip it out.

My partner had an electronic door installed when her house was built. The door has not worked properly since it was installed. The door goes up and down whenever it likes. It came down whilst my partner was reversing out and caused $600 worth of damage. Today it won’t shut and the idiot I spoke to could not help with a contact to fix it on a Saturday He said he could not help. I will report to Gliderol on Monday. The service is bloody ridiculous and is non existent.

The last person that came out after the car was damaged looked at it and said it seemed okay. Would not recommend this type of door to anyone It will also be put on Facebook to warn others about these doors. I ordered garage door repair specialists twice from this company, because garage door under warranty, but they came twice, and the door after these visits has the same defects - the door touches the brick wall. I must write a request for Consumer and Business Affairs and recommend a construction company that has built my house, stop using Glilderol Garage Doors as a supplier and installer of garage doors because this company destroys the reputation of a construction company. I am completely dissatisfied with the service of Glilderol Doors.

I had a Glidermatic GTS 2000 installed in Feb 2013 and has been trouble free for 5 years and we use it twice daily in average which is great, considering I never had it serviced. It failed for the first time last night where it could only open for up to 1 metre high.

After inspecting the overhead chain, it appeared that the chain location clip was in the wrong spot. I dug out the manual and went straight to the trouble-shooting page, and found the solution. I had to open the Powerhead cover and reprogram the limits which were pretty straight forward and took about 10 mins to do. I then greased the chain and hopefully it will last me for another 4 to 5 years. Gliderol Garage Door installed by Metricon builders in Feb 2013.

Very unreliable product. The Garage Door was well serviced every year as per the manufacturer's Owners maintenance advice/instructions. The Garage door lost its settings and got stuck. As per the Users' Manual, I had to disconnect power and reset again.

I called Gliderol to look into the issue. They said the Product is covered for only 3 years and it is out of warranty. So I forked out $135 for the Gliderol Service technician to come in and look at it.

He said the settings were ou. Read more t of whack and reset them. Garage door failed to open the second day. The Service Technician came in again and said it might be the electronic circuit board and replaced it with a new one. Garage door still failed to work. He then said it might be the Motor unit (cost $165 one year warranty) + installation charges.

There is no guarantee after 1 year.Gliderol warranty team in Sydney, NSW is not of help for customers. They never return your calls and try to avoid any warranty claims. I have seen other garage Doors work seamlessly for years together without any issues.I highly recommend not to go with this product. Installed about four years ago. Three months after installation it wouldn't go all the way down leaving a 3cm gap. I waited 6 weeks for installer to reset.

Worked okay for another three months before the gap started to reappear. I waited another 4 or so weeks for it to be reset.

Third time the installer promised to replace it if it happens again. Since December 2016 I have left 3 messages but installer won't reply. Gliderol tell me they no longer have a Perth office and their product only carries a 2 year warranty. Their recommended repairer advised me to replace with an alternative brand. Looks like I'll be another $660 out of pocket.

A few months back I rung the office and spoke to someone about replacing one of the panels on my garage door. The Gliderol door was part of our Metricon build.

The lady then was lovely, looked up our details, told me the size, the colour, options for window panels - Oxford or the Hampton. How much for the new panel $674/694 and for an extra $200 it would be delivered and installed. Today I rung back to organise it, and spoke to another lady, who promptly told me that no one at the office would have quoted me, they didn't do that and they wo. Read more uldn't be looking my details up because there would be no need as they wouldn't have done that. Who was the lady I spoke to. Unfortunately after a few months I've forgotten her name, wish I'd remembered it as I wouldn't have to dealt with this muppet - who's name I won't forget. After being rudely made to feel like a liar, I'm wishing I didn't have to replace a panel in my door (which isn't a necessity but would like some windows - maybe I'll just get a brand new door).

After stating several times, I understand if they don't do that any more but it had been done previously, the uppity muppet again stated very rudely that they'd never do that and blablabla. Seriously I know who I called, Gliderol was who I called because they were the ones that made my door. The muppet on the other end needs to learn how to talk to customers. We have brand new Gliderol Panel door installed by our builder. After using this for 15 months, the screws from one of the hinge on the side holding the roller came off while closing, the whole door twisted and the wire on the side of the door also came loose.

We contacted the office and sent photos of the defects as requested. After reading a few reviews regarding this company, we were not surprised that they denied their poor workmanship but advised to come at a call out charge of 90+ dollars. We got other garage repairers to fix the problem. Read more at a much lower rate, and a lot of other screws needed to be tightened up as well.No one would expect a garage door would come off the rail within such a short period of time.

We had been using a similar type of garage door of different brand ( B&D) for over 18 years without any problem at all except need a small part changed due to wear and tear after over 10 years of use.We had a lot of problems with Gliderol roller door in the past. If it wasn't the builder insisted of installing this door, we would not install a Gliderol door. Now, we will never have another Gliderol garage door.
